SCJ is the nation’s oldest honor society for student media leaders. Journalism is a foundation of democracy, and to ensure its future, SCJ focuses on pre-professional development at the collegiate level. SCJ aims to advance ethical, innovative collegiate journalism nationally and to create a strong network of advocates for First Amendment education.
To help advance this mission, we want to encourage each chapter to promote journalism on campus and in the community through events and programming that serve to educate students and adults of all ages about the craft and tenets of the profession.
Chapters hosting an event that supports the SCJ mission are encouraged to apply for funding from the National Office. Awards may be granted up to $250.
To apply, complete the form below. Form must be submitted no less than ONE MONTH in advance of the event date; chapters are encouraged to apply for funding early to allow sufficient time for application review by the National Council.
Before and after your event, we encourage you to share with us promotional materials, photographs, and other information so we can help promote your event from the National Office. Send all information to scjnationaloffice@gmail.com.
