The Certificate of Merit may be awarded to a member (current or alumni) who has made significant contributions to campus media. The Certificate of Merit is a printed citation which the SCJ National Office makes available to chapters at no cost. Two Certificates of Merit can be awarded each year by an active SCJ Chapter. They should be made for real distinction and are not mandatory for each active chapter each year. They should be presented in recognition of superior work. Certificates may be requested by any chapter at any time. Please allow three weeks to process the application.
The text of the certificate reads: “Certificate of Citation for Significant Contributions to Collegiate Journalism [Recipient Name] has been awarded the Certificate of Merit by the National Council of the Society for Collegiate Journalists (Pi Delta Epsilon-Alpha Phi Gamma) Honorary Collegiate Journalism Society.” It is on letter size parchment cardstock and signed by the National President and the National Executive Director. There is NO COST for the Certificate of Merit.
If you are requesting the certificate, please complete the Certificate of Merit Nomination Form online or submit via snail mail or email using the Certificate of Merit Nomination Form PDF. Please complete one form per nomination.
