logo_cornerHere, you’ll find all of the forms you’ll need to participate fully in SCJ, from starting a chapter through making award nominations. All forms can be completed online through our website for your convenience.

 


Starting a new chapter on your campus?

New chapters must pay a one-time New Charter Fee of $30. Once paid, the chapter receives its charter and is entitled to send two official delegates to the National Biennial Meeting. Checks or money orders should be made out to THE SOCIETY FOR COLLEGIATE JOURNALISTS.

Initiation Report Form (to be completed in hard copy by each new member)


Inducting new members?

SCJ Members pay a one-time $30 lifetime membership fee. It entitles the initiate to a certificate of membership and the SCJ pin. Forms and payment should be submitted no less than TWO WEEKS prior to induction ceremonies to ensure timely delivery of materials. Checks or money orders should be made out to THE SOCIETY FOR COLLEGIATE JOURNALISTS.

Reactivating an existing chapter?

Inactive chapters that already possess a Charter may reactivate their membership. The re-activation fee is $15. Checks or money orders should be made out to THE SOCIETY FOR COLLEGIATE JOURNALISTS.

Preparing for graduation?

Graduating members of the Society for Collegiate Journalists may purchase honor cords for $15. Chapter advisers should complete the Graduation List and Cords Form and submit no less than TWO WEEKS prior to the ceremony. Checks or money orders should be made out to THE SOCIETY FOR COLLEGIATE JOURNALISTS.

Making a nomination for a Certificate or Medal of Merit award?

Each year, a Chapter may nominate existing members for Merit Awards.

The Certificate of Merit may be awarded to a member (current or alumni) who has made significant contributions to campus media. The Certificate of Merit is a printed citation, which the SCJ National Office makes available to chapters at no cost. Two Certificates of Merit may be awarded each year by an SCJ Chapter. They should be presented in recognition of superior work. Certificates may be requested by any chapter at any time. Please allow three weeks to process the application.

One Medal of Merit may be awarded each year to a chapter member (current or alumni) making an outstanding contribution to the advancement of collegiate journalism. The Medal of Merit is a medallion. The cost, $12.00, is paid by the chapter making the award. Each chapter is eligible to award one Medal of Merit per year.

Holding an event on your campus and need funding?

Chapters hosting College Media events may apply for $250 in funding. Forms should be submitted no less than ONE MONTH in advance of the event.
